A commemorative silver brooch that belonged towards the spouse of Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong is on the market.
Created by jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels, the 18-carat silver brooch is certainly one of three that have been presented to Armstrong and his other Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins after their historic objective. a brooch that is fourth presented to Rose Kennedy, mom of this late President John F. Kennedy.
Donned by Armstrong’s spouse Janet, the brooch is shaped to resemble the lunar area, that includes a textured design that mimics the Moon’s craters and rocky surface. New Orleans gallery M.S. Rau Antiques is offering the brooch, that is associated with a page of provenance through the Armstrong Family Collection, for $168,500.
